I'm glad to hear you are surviving these somewhat warmer days before sledding season begins again in earnest!<br /> Your recent trials with losing your dear hens to a prowler reminded me so much of a year ago when Brian was away. I came home one evening after a concert (tsk tsk...I wasn't home to shut them in at dusk!) only to stumble over dead hens and guineas right and left. Their broken necks and still warm bodies littered the yard and pen and all I could do was wail my grief as I gathered armloads of them to my chest and carried them to the freezer for safekeeping until Brian returned. That attack was the play of a pair of dogs who live a half mile away through the woods. Their owner took responsibility for the damages and payed for all the hens replacement and even for the eggs they would have laid all summer---but it did nothing to change the feeling of loss for those dear birds that had been in my care.Lausannenoreply@blogger.com
